Our digital X-ray device captures images at very high speed and emits 80% less radiation than conventional film x-ray machines. The digital images are clearer than conventional X-rays and are available in seconds. Dr. Young can magnify these images and zero in on small areas for a very detailed inspection.
Cone beam 3D CT scanner
Dr. Young often has patients receive a cone beam 3D CT scan at a local imaging center for use in diagnosis and planning of treatment. The scanner takes a series of X-ray images in a 360° circle around your head. The images are computer-processed and produce precise and detailed 3D 360° views of your teeth, jawbone and related anatomical structures.
The images can be viewed from any angle and magnified for close inspection. Dr. Young uses them to precisely plan your dental implant placement and bone grafting. He also uses them to help evaluate TMJ problems.
Implant planning software
Dr. Young feeds the images from the 3D CT scanner into special implant planning software that he uses to precisely plan the exact location, angle and depth of placement for your implants.
Dr. Young uses surgical guides to make implant placement accurate and efficient. A surgical guide is a template that fits over your dental arch and shows the exact location and angle where an implant is to be placed.
Electric handpiece for implants
Dr. Young uses an electric handpiece for placing dental implants. The electric handpiece allows for precise control of the speed and strength of rotation of the drill bit. This makes the implant placement faster, more efficient, less invasive and much quieter than drills driven by other power sources.
Millennium Periolase dental laser
Dr. Young uses the Millennium Periolase dental laser for advanced laser gum treatments. Using the laser at different settings, he eliminates the bacteria that are causing the destruction of bone and gum around the teeth, removes excess or diseased gum tissue, and stimulates the regeneration of new tissue after treatment. He also uses the laser for frenectomies (the adjusting of restrictive folds of tissue in the mouth).
The laser precisely targets the tissue being treated and leaves other tissues unaffected. Laser treatment also removes the need for cutting or suturing in the vast majority of cases. Laser treatment is far less invasive and healing time is much faster than with traditional surgical procedures.
Growth proteins for faster healing
Where indicated Dr. Young will apply a highly concentrated growth protein formula to surgically treated areas. These proteins speed up the healing process and increase the strength and density of regenerated bone and gum tissue. They also reduce inflammation, prevent infection and lessen post-operative discomfort.
Surgical magnification eyeglasses
Dr. Young uses specially equipped magnification eyeglasses (known as surgical loupes) for a detailed view of small areas while giving treatment. The glasses are fitted with a special light that illuminates the area being viewed.
Dr. Young uses an ultrasonic scaling system to efficiently and gently remove the plaque and calculus that have accumulated on your teeth. The ultrasonic scaler uses high-frequency vibrations to break up plaque and calculus deposits fast and thoroughly. The vibrations also destroy the cell membranes of the gum-disease-causing bacteria, thereby killing them.
Advanced dental jet-spray teeth cleaning system
Dr. Young uses a dental jet-spray cleaning device for thorough cleaning and polishing of your teeth. The device shoots a high-pressure sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) jet that removes the stains from coffee, smoking and other hard-to-clean sources that are not able to be removed with traditional instruments.
