About the Practice

Benjamin Young, DDS, MS, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology

Dr. Young is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Diplomate status can only be earned after passing a thorough and rigorous exam on all aspects of periodontics. He has also been an instructor and lecturer to dental practitioners in the U.S. Air Force at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, and numerous other dental schools across the country.

Dr. Young’s work has consistently been recognized in the community. He has been featured as a Texas Super Dentist in Texas Monthly magazine every year since 2002, and in 2011 he received a Frost & Sullivan award for technical innovation in advanced dental implant procedures. This was the first award for innovations in dentistry in Frost & Sullivan’s 50 year history.

Minimally invasive treatment

Dr. Young uses state-of-the-art technology to ensure that his patients receive the highest standard of care. Because of this, he is able to provide treatment that is minimally invasive, comfortable and efficient.

When planning dental implant procedures, Dr. Young uses a dental imaging lab to obtain a 3D CT scan of your jaw, teeth and related anatomy so he can precisely plan the implant placement for maximum stability. He works with the imaging lab’s special software to map out the exact point of insertion, and uses a template known as a “surgical guide” to significantly improve placement accuracy over hand-alone techniques.

For gum disease treatment, Dr. Young uses the most advanced dental laser available in dentistry today. Sophisticated laser assisted therapy like the kind used by Dr. Young can replace or minimize the need for traditional periodontal surgical procedures. Also, by incorporating the laser the number of appointments necessary to restore someone to health are less and most patients wholeheartedly agree that there is less discomfort compared to traditional methods. In addition, in most cases, the cost of treatment is less when a laser is used over conventional therapy.
